MSU, UNC Go Camo for Carrier Classic
[custom_field limit=“1” between=”, ” /]The Carrier Classic will go camouflage next month.
Citing an image accidentally caught on a St. Louis television report, the Detroit Free Press reported that Michigan State will wear camo jerseys when the Spartans and Tar Heels face off on the deck of the USS Carl Vinson. The report was later confirmed.
Shortly after, North Carolina announced that it will wear special Tar Heel blue camouflage for the game, which will take place on November 11, Veteran’s Day.“U.S.A” will take the place of the players’ names on the back.
The carrier is the same one that buried Osama bin Laden, who was killed by Navy SEALs in a May operation.
We have to admit, the camo Carolina blue is actually pretty spiffy (then again, when does Carolina blue not look good?), and the gray camo actually works well with MSU’s shade of green. While well-intended, the “U.S.A.” on the back is pretty awkward.
With Barack Obama in attendance and the teams in their special outfits, it’s likely to an emotional scene in San Diego.
