‘94 UK Authors Historic Comeback vs. LSU
With Kentucky and LSU set to square off Saturday, let’s look at the historic meeting between the teams in 1994, when the Wildcats pulled off a miraculous 99-95 comeback victory over the Tigers.
UK erased a 31-point, second-half deficit - the largest comeback in NCAA history to that point - en route to a stirring win. The Tigers used an 18-0 run after halftime to take their largest lead before Kentucky scored 24 of the next 28 points and eventually took the lead on Walter McCarty’s 3-pointer with 19 seconds left - the team’s first advantage since 1-0.
“I can’t believe it,” then-Kentucky coach Rick Pitino said, according to the Associated Press. “I know I’ve never, ever witnessed anything like it.”
The top-ranked Wildcats bring a 20-1 overall record - including a 6-0 mark in the SEC - into the game against the Tigers, who have lost four of their last five.
