Arizona’s thrilling, last-minute comeback over Nevada in Saturday’s New Mexico Bowl was a great start to the bowl season. But within the Wildcats program, it was marred by an ugly fight on the sidelines between teammates.
Toward the end of the first quarter, Arizona DT Tevin Hood and LB Cody Ippolito had to be separated by teammates after throwing several punches at one another – much to the embarrassment and confusion of head coach Rich Rodriguez.
“As soon as I heard what happened, we sent the guys to the locker room,” Rodriguez said. “They went home with their parents … It was embarrassing. But I didn’t see it, so I can’t comment on it.”
We know Arizona’s season is over, but we’d be interested to see what Rodriguez has to say when he knows enough information about the scuffle to comment on it.
