App State Gets Old-School Nike Uniforms

Coastal Carolina better be prepared for an old-school looking opponent when they face Appalachian State on September 29.

Appalachian State — winner of three straight FCS national titles from 2005–07 — has unveiled alternate uniforms and helmets featuring a vintage logo of their mascot, Yosef, that will first be worn for the season opener. According to the ASU athletics site, the old-school Yosef logo adorned the Mountaineers’ helmets from 1971–79.

And it’s not just an opportunity for Appalachian State to look cool. It’s also an opportunity for some ol’ fashioned merchandising.

After the Sept. 29 game, fans can bid to purchase the alternate jerseys on GoASU.com. The helmets will also be up for sale, with the first 75 offered exclusively to the Yosef Club — a group that provides scholarship support for ASU’s student athletes.

Personally, we love the old-school Yosef with a massive beard, pipe in his mouth and Ranger-like hat.

Hopefully, we see much more of these in the future.

Why is “Trust and Respect” sewn on the inside of the bottoms? I mean no disrespect. To an outsider it’s like saying, you better have trust and respect before you put these on, OR you BETTER Trust that when we take off our pants you WILL Respect us and our members, GAME ON!

“Trust and Respect is on the inside of the shirts!” Look closely.
