‘Bama Media Guide Mislabels LSU Game

‘Bama fans are still on Cloud Nine following the Crimson Tide’s beatdown of LSU in last year’s BCS title game. On top of that, Alabama’s 2012 media guide claims a win over the Bayou Bengals in the regular season as well.

A recap of the team’s regular season schedule lists the result of its Nov. 5 defensive slugfest with LSU as a win when, in fact, the Tigers prevailed 9–6 at Bryant Denny Stadium. This in spite of the fact that, right above the regular season results, is the team’s correct 2011 record (12–1 overall, 7–1 in SEC play).

Alabama does have a reputation for exaggerating things — five of the 14 national titles they claim came prior to the wire-service polling era — but not all-out lying.

Maybe this is just a way to get a vibrant Reddit discussion going prior to the kickoff of the 2012 season. The exchanges between ‘Bama and LSU fans there are pretty entertaining.

    Alabama is as much a sore loser school as it is a bad winner.
    No way that that stat gets unintentionally in the media guide.

      so the 9-6 loss to LSU after missing four field goals and a misprint in the media guide made them a sore loser…. and then the 21-0 title game blowout made them a bad winner? Sounds more like Bama players thought the regular season game was a fluke, then PROVED it. The only sore loser was Tyrann Mathieu when he blabbed on McCarons twitter page about next year – but he wont have to worry about that now, since he’s such a dope head.

        the LSU campus is in baton rouge not new Orleans. That’s like calling mobile bamas own city. Yea LSU lost but that’s one game. It just happened to be for the title. It happens. LSU has still only lost to bama 4 times since 2000.

        Listen people. I’m a true Bama fan. I’ve heard all this before(if Bear Bryant had not been there) to (Bama buys thier players). Actually none of that matters. What matters at the end of the day is who won the game and WHO wins the now BCS. I’ve watched Bama humiliate teams for the past 40 years! No college team has been more exciting and stood in the way of any other team getting the title than Alabama. How many National Championships do we have? 22!! Don’t hate. I made a statement that I will stand by. Put ANY TEAM outside of the SEC against Alabama and we will beat them. I want USC.  ROLL TIDE!

          How true….., Bama is a dominate team…..LSU fan here…, There is no mistake about it… who ever comes out of the SEC usually wins the title, and the second SEC could have done the same, most of the time…, Bama,Auburn,LSU Georgia last year could have beaten OSU,, that is the tilt in the tilt a world.., any of the top three could have beaten OSU….

    Bama is a great team and program. No they do not have the championships they claim, but what world people live in is generally one of their own making and Bama football is certainly that. For sure they didn’t win the 1964 championship. That was Arkansas!!! and we all know in 1977 the Hogs were the clear champs, not ND sothat gives us 2:-)

       You go ahead and hang your hat on those 2 NCs Mrslay1 and denigrate Bama’s achievements all you want. Bama has made monkeys out of the slime hogs the last 2 years and will do it again this year. By the way, in 1964, Bama was declared the National Champs by the AP and UPI. Arkansas was declared champs by the FWAA(Football Writers Association of America). At the end of the season that year, the National Champion was declared, so a win or loss in a bowl game was not a factor. The record shows Bama won 2 out of 3 of the polls with the same 10-0-0 record as Arkansas, so now you are butt hurt because Bama lost to Texas in the Orange Bowl and Arkansas beat Nebraska in the Cotton Bowl, yet they still had to accept they were #2 in the AP and UPI polls. Too bad for Arkansas the bowl games didn’t come into play that year. But, cut it or slice it anyway you want, Bama won the NC that year! ROLL TIDE!

         By the way Mrslay1, if any team had a gripe about not winning the 1977, Alabama had the biggest one. Alabama finished the season at number 3 and then easily beat #8 Ohio State 35 – 6. By virtue of a lopsided 38 – 10 victory over #1 Texas by #5 Notre and #6 Arkansas’ 31 – 6 over #2 Oklahoma, Alabama should have been crowned #1. However, as had happened in 1964, bias reigned and Notre Dame vaulted 4 spots and were crowned national champs. So it is your contention that Arkansas should have moved up 5 spots and been crowned #1?

       Hey John H., do you count the 1966 nc? Also, if your biased yankee voting buddies had voted right in 1977, Alabama would have been crowned National Champs. However, you and your Notre Dame buddies think it’s perfectly okay to overlook those miscarriages of justice, but not when it goes in Bama’s favor. In 1966, Notre Dame’s chickenshit coach, Ara Parseghian, chose to play for a tie and not try to win the game against Michigan State. Both teams finished the season at 9-0-1 and Alabama had an 11-0-0 record. Not only was Bama undefeated and untied, but they played 1 more game than those 2 turkey ass schools. Parseghian still defends his decision, but even Michigan fans booed him and called him a coward. We, in the South, had a lot less flattering words for him. It’s still viewed as slight against Alabama by people who were around at that time. I was in college then and wasn’t surprised at all it turned out the way it did. You fans of Notre Dame go ahead and count your 13 NCs and we Bama fans will count our 14. Too bad Bama can’t play Notre Dame this season. Bama would leave little Fighting Irish meatballs all over the field. Winning 2 out the last 3 BCS “real” National Championships will do that to a team. You probably number yourself among the people who say Bama shouldn’t have been in the BCS NC in Jan. and cheated against Texas by intentionally injuring Colt McCoy in the 2009 BCS NC game. Guess what! Bama fans don’t care what Notre Dame or any other envious fans think about our NC count. You need to get over it.

    Not surprising.  Bama takes credit for everything even when they imagine it.  They claim they really won the regular season game.  They forget LSU has won 2 of the last 3 games.  They take credit for LSU 2003 national championship b/c Saban was coach.  They take credit for LSU 2007 national championship b/c there were a couple of Saban recruits still on the team.  The other day, I heard a Bama caller claim that Bama was really undefeated last year, because they really won the first game, and they would have beat Georgia in the SEC playoff.  They even claimed credit for Arkansas taking the moral high ground when Petrino was fired–”we in the SEC don’t tolerate immoral behavior,” when, in fact, one of their own previous head coaches did the same thing, but was not fired.

      Apparently, you forget that Bama has won 2 of the last 3 BCS NCs. Personally, I would rather have that than winning 2 out of the last 3 regular season games. A team doesn’t get 2 crystal footballs for that achievement. By the way, Mike Dubose(the coach to which your aimless rambling was alluding) didn’t hire the woman he was fooling around with at a ridiculous or lavish a lot of money on her. He had year a lopped of his coaching contract plus all the negative publicity probably led to his being fired after having a horrendous record his last season. Also, show me proof that “they”(meaning Bama) claim the BCS NC for the 2003 season. You are an idiot for even mentioning that b.s.Ebb Tide and should quit posting while you have a shred of dignity left.
