Georgia fans were quick to display their ire toward quarterback Aaron Murray following the Bulldogs’ 35–7 loss at South Carolina on Saturday night. They might be sorry they did.
Linebacker Christian Robinson, who shares a house with Murray, tweeted on Sunday that he and Murray returned to Athens on Saturday to find that their house had been egged and covered in toilet paper.
“Seems that people turn on you when you’re not perfect. Thought we were in this together,” Robinson said in his tweet.
The less-than-warm welcome back to campus marked the end of a rough week for Murray. His dad Dennis was diagnosed with thyroid cancer last week and had a procedure on Sunday morning to address it.
ESPN’s Kirk Herbstreit had mentioned that Murray had endured several sleepless nights prior to the South Carolina game. Turns out that they had nothing to do with facing the Gamecocks’ defense.
We can only hope the rest of the Athens community rallies around Murray in his time of need.
