Former Ohio State coach Jim Tressel’s popularity in the Buckeye State is so enduring that it extends to baseball as well.
On Saturday, the Cleveland Indians’ Double-A affiliate, the Akron Aeros, is giving away Jim Tressel bobblehead dolls — depicting him in his go-to sweater vest (in Akron blue instead of Ohio State scarlet), of course — to the first 1,000 fans in attendance in honor of “The University of Akron Night.”
Tressel does have a connection to Akron, as he was a graduate assistant at the school in the mid-1970s while earning his master’s degree and currently works there now as a VP of strategic engagement. As for his possible connection to the Aeros … we’re drawing a blank.
We doubt that’ll prevent fans from snatching these up in a matter of minutes on Saturday night.
