Former West Virginia running back Avon Cobourne, the Big East’s all-time leading rusher, is a member of the CFL’s Hamilton Tiger-Cats. He played in the league for the Montreal Alouettes from 2005-10.
Cobourne, 32, went undrafted in 2003 but played in the NFL with the Detroit Lions in 2003 and 2004 before moving on to the CFL, where he won two straight titles with the Alouettes and a Grey Cup MVP in 2009.
One of the greatest running backs in Mountaineers history, Cobourne set the WVU single-season rushing mark with 1,710 yards in 2002 en route to his career mark. The single-season record was broken by Steve Slaton in 2006.
West Virginia will need a similarly herculean effort Saturday when it hosts No. 2 LSU. Avon Cobourne profile
