Tulsa wide receiver Damaris Johnson, the NCAA’s all-time leader in all-purpose yardage, has been charged with felony embezzlement, according to the Tulsa World on Wednesday.
A warrant has been issued for Johnson’s arrest, but the Tulsa World reported he had not been taken into custody as of Wednesday night at 5 p.m.
Johnson allegedly used the debit card of his girlfriend, Chamon Jones, who is a Macy’s department store employee in Tulsa, last Friday to pay for $1,596.09 worth of merchandise. However, the report said that he was charged just $12.91 by Jones.
Citing a police report, the Tulsa World also said that Johnson paid 34 cents for $1,238.75 the day before.
Johnson was suspended from all team activities last Friday afternoon, the newspaper said, but he was not charged until Wednesday. His girlfriend was hit with the same charge.
We wrote in a previous post that this reminded us of Peter Warrick in 1999. But Johnson faces much more serious consequences if his is convicted on the felony charge.
