“Missouri Week” kicks off with a look back at Brad Smith, one of the most-prolific players in school history. Smith was a four-year starter for the Tigers, with whom he was a versatile dual-threat quarterback.
Smith was known for electrifying runs that left defenders in his wake and opposing defensive coordinators frustrated. Smith, a First Team All-Big 12 selection in 2005, threw for more than 8,000 yards and rushed for more than 4,000 in his college career. And what better way to honor him than a montage of his college career with the MC Hammer classic, “U Can’t Touch This”?
A fourth-round pick of the New York Jets in 2006, Smith took on a hybrid role once he landed in the NFL. He has excelled as a receiver, special teams player and backup quarterback for the Jets, for whom he played from 2006-10. He is currently a member of the Buffalo Bills, whom he signed with in the offseason. Brad Smith profile
