Former Oklahoma star safety Roy Williams will join the Sooners’ radio broadcasts as a sideline reporter and pregame host for the 2011 season, the school announced Tuesday.
A five-time Pro Bowl safety in the NFL, Williams won a national title at Oklahoma in 2000 and was named an All-American in 2001 before being drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in 2002.
Williams is a free agent who played for the Cincinnati Bengals the last two seasons after spending 2002-08 with the Cowboys, with whom he had a reputation as a hard hitter who was poor in coverage.
The former safety, 30, also will appear on the Dallas spinoff of A&E’s hit television show “Storage Wars.”
A reality show, now a radio gig? Doesn’t look like an NFL comeback for Williams is happening anytime soon. Roy Williams profile
