“Syracuse Week” debuts with a look back at the Orange’s dramatic 28-26 victory over Virginia Tech in 2008. Donovan McNabb connected with tight end Stephen Brominski for a 13-yard TD on the final play of the game to secure the victory.
On the previous play from the one-yard line, McNabb was sacked for a 12-yard loss. But he was able to redeem himself on the next play, rolling right and finding a leaping Brominski in the left corner of the end zone.
The stands at the Carrier Dome emptied as fans celebrated one of the great home wins in Syracuse history.
McNabb, who had vomited on the field earlier in the fourth quarter, threw for 232 yards and two touchdowns while rushing 21 times for 57 yards. McNabb has played in the NFL since 1999 for the Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Redskins. He was traded to the Minnesota Vikings last week after the NFL lockout was lifted. Donovan McNabb profile
