No natural rivalry exists between Florida State and Arkansas. That didn’t prevent an FSU sports management class from making fun of departed Hogs coach Bobby Petrino.
Reddit user StrikerObi, whose avatar is FSU’s Chief Osceola logo, posted a photo Sunday of a flyer promoting SPM 5930 – a class titled “Issues in Sports Management.” Below a photo of Petrino after his April motorcycle accident is a description of the course, which is also listed on the FSU registrar’s website:
“Learn the most current issues in sports management and interact with classmates on various decisions that an Athletic Administrator may need to make.”
Such as firing a successful coach after he joyrides with an attractive young woman who is not his wife.
The professor of the course is Dr. Jason Pappas, who is in his first year as an FSU Associate Athletic Director. He earned both Bachelor of Science (1996) and Masters of Science (1998) degrees from the university and previously worked in USC’s athletic department.
Although we enjoy the jab at Petrino, Florida State is probably the last school that should be laughing at another school’s discipline problems inside the athletic department.
