Nkemdiche Wants Teammate at Clemson

Defensive end Robert Nkemdiche, the No. 1 overall recruit in the country for the Class of 2013, has committed to Clemson – but he’s still making the Tigers sweat.

According to the Atlanta Journal Constitution, it’s important to Nkemdiche to play with some of his former high school teammates, two of whom – RB Wayne Gallman and DB David Kamara already are committed to Clemson.

But Nkemdiche wants the Tigers to take in one more of his boys from Grayson High School in Georgia.

“I am waiting on Clemson to offer Ryan; when that happens, it’s locked … it’s a done deal … it’s over,” Nkemdiche told the AJC, speaking of safety Ryan Carter.

The newspaper said that Carter has offers from Ole Miss, Georgia State, Tulane, Arkansas State and Southern Miss but, according to Nkemdiche, Clemson has shown interest. And we think we know why.

“Clemson said they like Ryan a lot and that he’s at the top of their board,” Nkemdiche said, according to the newspaper. “Yes, sir, if Clemson offers Ryan, it would seal the deal. There’s no ifs, ands or buts about it.

“David and Ryan, those guys are like family. They are like brothers to me. I’m close to them. We’ve had success playing football together and I don’t want to change it.”

While package deals like this happen all the time behind closed doors, it’s surprising that Nkemdiche would publicly talk about something so taboo in college sports.

But we have a feeling a new scholarship offer might soon be on Carter’s way.
