John Calipari has a lot of friends in the rap game.
Along with being a friend of noted Kentucky fan and top-selling rapper Drake, Calipari was mentioned in a song called “Varsity Blues” by rap artist Wale.
The song talks about the the ups and downs of being a collegiate athlete and even drops the following line about UK’s head basketball coach:
“They hate on Calipari, but I never seen the problem/They get one season poppin’, at least he’s being honest/They always in their class, they always at their practice/While they bummin’ for cash you made a grip off a bracket”
We have no grip on our bracket, but that’s beside the point. Wale’s point is well taken about the big-money business that is college sports. Check the video below for his full song.
