Former Pacific star Michael Olowokandi, the No. 1 overall pick in the 1998 NBA Draft, has not played in the NBA since 2007 and currently lives in Manhattan Beach, CA, in Los Angeles.
The 7-foot Olowokandi was the Big West Conference Player of the Year in 1998 before being selected with the top pick by the Los Angeles Clippers. He played in the league for the Clippers, Timberwolves and Celtics.
Olowokandi garned the reputation of being lazy and not playing up to his abilities – even drawing the ire of all-time great center Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, who said he couldn’t get through to the young big man when Abdul-Jabbar was a coach with the Clippers.
Most recently, though, Olowokandi’s name has been in the new thanks to his ex-fiancee, Suzie Ketcham, who is cast member of VH1′s “Basketball Wives.”
