Report: MSU, UConn to Play in Germany

Michigan State and Connecticut will start the 2012-13 college basketball season in Germany, according to Mlive.com, which cited a source on Tuesday.

The report said that the teams will face off in Ramstein Air Base.

“I asked my players if they wanted to do it and they were jacked,” Spartans coach Tom Izzo told ESPN.com. “Has a college team ever played a regular-season game in Europe? I don’t think so.

“It will be cool. We’re going to a base in another country. That’s pretty cool.”

MSU played North Carolina last season on the USS Carl Vinson in the Carrier Classic. Apparently that wasn’t enough for the Spartans, who reportedly will be going abroad now after there were reports that they could play USC in Greece.
