Tell or Urban Meyer or not? That was the question.
Ohio State football players TE Jake Stoneburner and OT Jack Mewhort were arrested on misdemeanor charges of obstructing justice after they reportedly took off running when they were about to be confronted about urinating in public near a pub in Shawnee Hills, OH.
But WCSH-6 now has surveillance video from police that shows the football players, along with a third man who’s not on the team, debating whether to call coach Urban Meyer after being taken into custody.
The players decided against doing so after the incident that took place on June 2, though Meyer certainly knows about it now. Check the video below.
Some of those who were interviewed by WCSH-6, as part of a package that included the surveillance video, said that the incident was blown out of proportion – but suggested it still was not smart of the players to run from police to escape what likely would have been a slap on the wrist.
The players have been suspended from the team. We’re wondering how Meyer reacted in private when he heard the news.
