Franklin Wants Hot Wives for Coaches

We knew we liked this James Franklin guy, who has made Vanderbilt relevant again. But we like the coach’s recruiting tactics even more.

Speaking with Nashville’s 104.5 The Zone: “I’ve been saying it for a long time; I will not hire an assistant until I see his wife. If she looks the part and she’s a D1 recruit, then you got a chance to get hired. That’s part of the deal.

“There’s a very strong correlation between having the confidence, going up and talking to a women, and being quick on your feet and having some personality and confidence and being articulate and confident, than it is walking into a high school and recruiting a kid and selling him.”

We can see Franklin’s point, though it’s unclear if he just wants to increase his chances of hanging out with a group of hot women when the coaches and their families spend time together.

So there you go, aspiring college football assistant coaches, get out of the film room and into your local singles bar. And remember, this is for your career.

I hope Vandy fires this no brain coach.

    • John

I hope you get fired, that would be sweet.

  • JD

And the proof for this alleged correlation is… where?

  • SM

He was joking around with the hosts for Christ’s sake. I cannot believe deal everyone is making over one flip comment in a banter filled interview with local radio hosts he knows well. And there certainly is a correlation and tongue-in-cheek or not there is a lot of truth to what he says

    • Chris

Michael Jordans wife was VEEEEERY not attractive, Jerry Rices wife was not attractive but I don’t think these guys lack in confidence, there goes that theory. Funny thing is this coaches wife is a 6 at best, practice what you preach d bag.

Jordan had/has as many women as Tiger in his stable

           Emphasis on stable.

      • Favrefan4life80

You named 2 what about the other 1000 with hot wives. Sports are all about numbers.

  • Tom K.

Maybe he meant that he wants to improve the team by having them to play for Vandy, especially if he needs a good tight end.

    • limdog

      or good slot receivers

  • Earle

Whether it was a joke on the radio or not…he was stupid for even saying it. I can see he has no brains.

    • You Are

A dumb-arse…I hope you get fired.

  • http://Ravenspr26@aol.com Really! No brains? If he didn’t have brains Vanderbilt wouldn’t have hired him and let’s face it. He led Vandy to a 6-7 mark and a Bowl appearance in his first year. I’m sure Marland wishes they had kept him and former head coach Ralph for that matter.

Bobby Petrino, eat your heart out.

This almost smells as bad as the Penn State problem. A coaches wife has no place in the mix.

Man with all that is going on these days I am a little surprised this would be said. College sports took a hell of a black eye because of the Penn State Scandal. All we need now is a guy that likes other coaches wives a little too much.

  • FUKKAD.com

He is getting uncoached with the players’ performance and wants to goto bed like WOWBOOTY.com

  • http://www.facebook.com/LindseyGregoryLucidLinds Lindsey Gregory

I see his point.  Makes sense to me

  • buffett

College studs will be inviting the coaches wife to all toga parties

  • kpncool

You have to be smart to get into Vanderbilt as a student, but apparently their coaches can be as dumb as a stump.  His next stupid comment will probably be that he wants hot looking players too. Vandy will have a hard time keeping him on then because Penn State will be trying to hire him away.
