MSU’s White Coaching at H.S. Alma Mater

Former star Michigan State running back Lorenzo White has been a running backs coach at his alma mater, Dillard High School, in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, since 2001. He also runs the non-profit Lorenzo White Foundation, which helps underprivileged kids.

White became the Big Ten’s first runner to compile a 2,000-yard season, amassing 2,066 in 1985. White led the Spartans to their first Rose Bowl since 1966, a win over USC in January of 1988, when he ran for 113 yards and two TDs.

He finished his career first in school history in rushing yards (4,887), rushing attempts (1,082), rushing touchdowns (43) and 100-yard games (23). As such, White was inducted into the Spartans’ Hall of Fame in 2010.

The look back at White’s career is part of Michigan State Week at Lost Lettermen. Lorenzo White profile
