Lost Lettermen is counting down and ranking all 124 FBS college football teams from best to worst by comparing each to a well-known song. We will examine one team per day through the summer in the lead up to the 2012 season. Today’s team: The Tulane Green Wave.

Key Players: QB Ryan Griffin, RB Orleans Darkwa

9/8: @ Tulsa
9/22: vs. Mississippi
9/29: vs. Louisiana-Monroe

11/24: @ Houston
Skinny:
Tulane had about as bad a season as a team could have without going winless. Consider that the Green Wave lost their last 10 games, including a 44-7 loss against UTEP, followed by a 33-17 setback against downtrodden Memphis and, later, a 56-point loss to Houston. The two wins for Tulane? In the season opener vs. FCS Southeastern Louisiana and two weeks later against lowly UAB. As Pre-Snap read pointed out, QB Ryan Griffin ended last season horribly – tossing seven INTs against four TDs and completing less than 50 percent of his passes during a seven-game stretch. Enter new coach Curtis Johnson, former the Saints WR coach, who wants to open the offense, while also introducing change on the defensive side of the ball. Tulane can only hope for its first winning season since 2002.
But we wouldn’t hold our breath. That’s why talking Green Wave football is so depressing, just like “My Life” – a song from Los Angeles rapper The Game featuring New Orleans native Lil’ Wayne. It talks about wanting to be taken away from the perils of the ‘hood. The brooding song really makes us think one thing: Take us away from Tulane football. Please.
