L’ville AD Jurich: We Want Out of Big East

Louisville athletic director Tom Jurich told the Big East board of directors that the Cardinals want out of the Big East, according to ESPN.com’s Andy Katz, who cited sources.

The school previously was thought to be close to landing in the Big 12 before West Virginia landed there instead.

According to the report, the Cardinal want in to the Big 12 or ACC. If Louisville were to leave an already-imploding Big East, it would make the the job harder for league’s new commissioner – whomever that may be.

I work across the road from the Big XII conference headquarters in Irving, Texas. This article might explain why they have a brand-new Louisville flag waving in front of the building.

Can’t stay far enough away from your arragant, rude, “we own the world” fans. Go to the ACC, we don’t want you in the Big 12.

    • Mr. Rob

I hope Louisville gets an invite from the ACC, then Boise St. follow through with its desire to withdraw its committment to the Big East. That way, a very weak Big East could further sway Notre Dame, and subsequently BYU, to accept those 2 remaining spots the Big XII has reserved for them. Remember, it’s all about money, and ND could bring millions to the conference.

Do you honestly think by the stretch of anybody’s imagination that either Notre Dame or BYU would even entertain the idea of entering into what has to be the most poorly managed, on the way to being defunct conference there is? Why on God’s earth would Notrre Dame lower itself to a standard that even the likes of Pitt and Syracuse couldn’t accept. You are delusional.

Are you afraid of Louisville? You don’t own anything.

      correct–we do not

I can’t stand Pittsgurgh, Marshall and VT. I would rather have any of them before Louisville. Louisville is as arrogant as Pittsburgh Penquin fans.

      What’s your team Stonybrook?

I, myself do not understand the reason for conferences in the first place. The favorite BIG boys will always be in the top 10 due to favoritism and subjectivity in the selection of who is best. Last year’s BCS championship game contained a school who did not even win its conference !!!!!! An open arena for all would be an interesting concept and then maybe Alabama, LSU and a few others can plays a few LESS inferior teams like Kent, Southern Georgia and Western Carolina. I understand why Sabin is unhappy about the proposed 4 team playoff. He can’t even win his own conference.!!!!!

Not sure where anonymous is coming from. “Arrogant”?? Louisville has great fans who passionately support their teams and treat opponents with respect. Wait until a few of the Big 12 teams go to Morgantown, West Virginia. They will then appreciate a class program like Louisville’s. Great AD, Coach Charlie strong is a winner and a gentleman. I suspect anonymous is a West Virginia fan who doesn’t want to face Charlie Strong and Pitino again.

Louisville is a basketball university and should go to the ACC. They have not done anything relevant in football in years. As far as WVU. WVU was the Big East conference. Several Heisman candidates and 3-0 in the BCS bowls against top teams. WVU has rightfully earned it place into the Big 12 conference. Louisville players would not even shake the hands of WVU players after the coin toss. So much for that class. Your fans are a lot like Ohio State fans you say you are going to win the National Championship every year and then fall flat on your face. How many wins has Louisville put up over the last ten years versus WVU? End of story. Louisville belongs in the ACC. At least the basketball team can be successful there. As far as Notre Dame. The have been non existent in everything. Who cares about them? They like to keep all the revenue for themselves. They don’t want to share revenue. Says a lot about their faith and religion does it not. I mean most mafia members are cathlic. So Notre Dame is all about money!!!

Why on God’s green earth would any team desire to be in the big east? Especially Notre Damee who can go anywhere!

Louisville has never been able to make a significant mark in the Big East. Now they see Houston coming and they are running for the doors. Laugh if you will, but UH fans know these guys. Bunch of whiners. But basketball so dominates the athletic culture at Louisville that they have never been able to get their football program out of second gear. And that is about to become embarrasing.

  • readytogo

Only problem with Louisville going to the Big 12 is Petino swore he would never go back to Lawrence, KS to play the Jayhawks after Kansas rung up 154 points against Kentucky when Petino coached the Wildcats. Love to have him return for another taste of Jayhawk basketball but he did swear he was never coming back. Oh well.

There football program is on the move up, with the way they finished last season(after a terrible start) and 17 starters returning(16 of the 17 are only sophomore)
The big reason for the turn around last year was QB coach Shawn Watson, who became offensive coordinator. at mid-season when previous coordinator left town after running program into the ground. First half of season, they could not score an offensive TD, last half they average almost 50 points a game.
The thing that will hurt this team if Watson leaves for one of the many head coaching jobs coming his way.
