Bob Knight Rips Kentucky Hoops Again

Even in the wake of its national title, Kentucky continued to be the target of former Indiana and Texas Tech coach Bob Knight.

The current ESPN analyst had a speaking engagement at The Center for the Performing Arts in Carmel, IN, where he took aim at the Wildcats as part of a speech that encompassed his experiences and career.

Knight has drawn criticism for a perceived bias toward Kentucky, which he has refused to call by its name and even purposely left it off a list of the best teams in the country.

According to the Indianapolis Star, Knight continued Saturday by ripping the one-and-done rule, calling it a “disgrace” – a veiled shot at UK. Then, he talked directly about the Wildcats.

“Kentucky managed to get irritated over that because I mentioned them as the SEC team rather than Kentucky,” Knight said, according to the report. “Well, they might not have known that Kentucky was in the SEC. I thought that was always a possibility with them.”

Ouch.

        Aloha, You are the stupid one for making such a statement. Yes he read the article just like you and I did. The STUPID ones are the people who had Booby Knight as a speaker and the ones who was there and listened to the clown speak. The smart people are UK who will not let ESPN broadcast a game with him as an announcer. And one of the reasons is he gets drunk while he is doing the game and UK does not want a drunk on the set for the game. It’s a shame that ESPN has to use a “OLD” worn out coach who is a “DRUNK” as a announcer for there games.

    The refusal of a national TV announcer to be fair and unbiased should not be tolerated. If someone covering an atheletic event cannot be neutral, they should be terminated. As a viewer, I want fair and honest comments from the announcers. Just because baby Knight could not beat Kentucky on the court should not allow him the freedomto try to beat them as an an announcer, analyst or a?? My suggestionto ESPN is tell him to put aside his hurt pride and call things as they are, not as they would liek to be in Indiana. Same goes for Digger who has had the same problem beating Kentucky where it counts— on the basketball court.

    Neither Coach Cal or UK made the rule. They just play by the one and done better than any other program.
    Knight is a clown. Why would a guy that has thrown chairs, assaulted players and generally embarrassed himself bother to even open his mouth. His holier than thou bulls*** is nauseating. So its wrong to take care of a kid in need with a few bucks but Knight can choke and beat his players??? There is not a program in the NCAA’s that is 100% clean by the rules.

Why does he not bash UNC for three players leaving early . What about Duke who has plaeyers leaving early? This routine of his smacks of Jealousy. It is O.K. for him to choke a player ,treat reporters as if they are pieces of crap and and throw tantrums on the court when he does not get his way . Bob knight while a great motivator and a coach should never have anything to say about anyone. You know the people in glass houses should not throw stones idea.

    Coach Knight’s record speaks for itself.

    Kentucky won more NCAA games this year than Coach Knight won in his last 14 years as a head coach. Coach Knight won just 54% of his conference games in his last ten years as a head coach. During most of that time, there was no one and done rule. Coach Knight’s boorish and churlish behavior hastened his downfall but the hard truth is that Coach Knight had a very poor record for over a decade.

    How was Kentucky responsible for his last 14 years?

    I agree with coach Knight about the need to change the NCAA rules. However, to focus on one school or team is
    not professional. The players on the Kentucky team do not deserve to be put down just because they follow their
    desire to be NBA players. I would like for each of them to earn a degree , but they have to live their own life and make their own decisions. Both the school and the players are following the rules the NCAA have made.

    Bob Knight, while a pretty decent coach, is a miserable human being that seems to be upset that someone is having success without following his example of throwing chairs and creating international riots. His time is done, he should try to have some grace. Cal will be in his shoes someday.
