UK’s Jones Gives Flowers to Cheerleader

Terrence Jones is a man of his word. The outgoing Kentucky forward delivered flowers to the Louisville cheerleader he accidentally injured during the Final Four earlier this month.

A collision took place when Jones raced down the floor in transition but was not able to corral a lead pass from teammate Anthony Davis and went barreling into the Cardinals’ cheerleaders on the baseline.

Cheerleader Jerica Logue needed stitches to patch up an injury on top of her head but eventually returned to the game. Jones, though, was remorseful about the accidental collision.

“Tell her I’m sorry,” said Jones afterward, who had no idea he caused the injury at the time. “I’ll drive down there and tell her myself with some flowers or something.”

According to a report from WHAS-11, that’s exactly what Jones did on Monday night, when he arrived at a cheerleading practice with a nice arrangement. Judging by the video below, courtesy of the television station, the surprise delivery was a hit.

    jealous much?

Nice to see a young man with some integrity. All you ever hear about is the negatives when it comes to student/athletes.

  • Billy

What integrity, he was paid to play.

Of course, stories and pictures like this bring the racists out of the woodwork, but there are other comments that are in the gray area between inappropriate and appropriate. For example, would this guy be bringing flowers to a homely lady he might have crashed into instead of a cute cheerleader? Likewise would the other Kentucky basketball player have gone out of his way to take a black girl to her prom? Moreover, would either of these gestures be done without being photo ops?

I think he was a well brought up young man to feel bad about what happened. He is a man of his word. It is delightful to see something good written about the good that happens rather than always the negative. Something I am really tired of, is everything always has to find its way to make everything racist. I am sure the cheerleader appreciated his thoughtfulness. They are just two young people getting an education to futher their future. Good Luck to you Both!

Rather than accept the possibility that there are people who are sincere and concerned about others, the naysayers, detractors, and racists aren’t satisfied until they interject all manner of conjectures re: the
motives of others. Just more indications of the sad state humanity has sunk to.

Even though I don’t like UK I gotta give it to the kid nice gesture!
