Clemson assistant Rick Ray has been hired as the new coach at Mississippi State.
CBSSports.com, which cited sources on Sunday, first reported the hiring.
Ray has been an assistant with the Tigers for the past two seasons after four years in the same role at Purdue. He will replace Rick Stansbury, who had coached the Bulldogs since the 1998-99 season but retired last month. Stansbury failed to advance Mississippi State to the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA tournament.
We will see if Ray can do so.
