If anyone had any doubt, Michigan heard Michigan State coach Mark Dantonio loud and clear on Wednesday.
“We’re laying in the weeds,” Dantonio said of the Spartans-Wolverines rivalry, according to ESPN.com. “We’ve beat Michigan the last four years. So where’s the threat?”
Michigan responded on its football Facebook page, saying: “Bulletin board material? Check. … See you Saturday, Oct. 20 at the Big House.”
Dantonio’s comment referred to the feeling that Michigan has returned to the stature of college football elite thanks to Brady Hoke, who guided the Wolverines to an awaited win over Ohio State and a Sugar Bowl victory in his first season.
While the Spartans have had success in recent seasons – both against UM and in general – they will have a target on their backs in the annual matchup between the teams this fall.
