Pastner Blames Wife for NCAA Violation

Josh Pastner might want to bring flowers home today after work.

The Memphis coach blamed a minor NCAA violation on his pregnant wife, who was yelling at him when he inadvertently tweeted the name of Tony Parker, a Class of 2012 recruit from Georgia that drew the ire of the NCAA.

“My wife was yelling at me because I was on the phone too loud. I was waking (the couple’s infant daughter) up and waking my wife up because I had the TV on. She was complaining that I not only woke my daughter up, but I also woke the baby inside her up because she’s pregnant,” Pastner said, according to the Memphis Commercial Appeal

“So I was waking everybody up, I was getting yelled at and on top of that I was thinking, ‘What’s going on with recruiting?’ and ‘Who am I going to hire?’ and I made a mistake.”

Pastner deleted the tweet but still broke an NCAA rule that prohibits coaches from publicly discussing recruits. He also broke an unwritten rule of marriage by blaming his wife.

Humm. That sounds a little fishy. I have been in situations similar to this but i was still in control over my thoughts, and actions. Also blaming it completly on is wife? She may have been yelling but it’s not at all her fault he “accidentally” typed in the name of his recruit. He needs to just take responcibility for what he did in my opinion.
