Former Washington State quarterback Ryan Leaf, considered one of the all-time NFL draft busts, started his professional career off on the wrong foot after being selected second overall in the 1998 draft.
Check the video below of Leaf infamously getting in the face of San Diego Union Tribune reporter Jay Posner in a locker room confrontation as a rookie with the San Diego Chargers. The ex-QB screamed: “Just don’t talk to me, all right? Knock it off!”
It became a lasting moment for the mercurial and disappointing career of Leaf, who flamed out the league after the 2001 season. His post-playing career has been marred by substance abuse problems and run-ins with the law, including two arrests for in burglaries in four days late last month, reportedly to fuel a prescription drug habit.
Leaf was perhaps the best quarterback in Cougars history, leading them to the 1998 Rose Bowl and finishing third in the 1997 Heisman Trophy race. Ryan Leaf profile
