Now we can stop wondering whether Kentucky could beat the Washington Wizards. Wildcats coach John Calipari made it clear that his team would fall short.
“This team could not beat an NBA team. Not one. Not the worst NBA team,” Calipari said in a quote that went viral on Twitter.
The discussion began with a claim from former Maryland coach Gary Williams, who spoke with ESPN 980’s Kevin Sheehan and Thom Loverro. Williams claimed the Wildcats could beat the lowly Washington Wizards in a one-game scenario if it took place at UK’s Rupp Arena and the Wiz were playing their third game in three nights. Charles Barkley also said the ‘Cats could beat the Toronto Raptors.
Stan Vandy Gundy disagreed, according to the Associated Press, and now Calipari has responded definitively.
