Mississippi State coach Rick Stansbury is out, too.
The Bulldogs suffered a double-overtime loss to Massachusetts in the first-round of the NIT on Tuesday, ending its season in disappointing fashion. After the game, forward Renardo Sidney tweeted: “I’m out!” On Thursday, it was reported by CBSSports.com that Stansbury, 52, has “retired.”
Considering his age and lack of success this season, it appears to be a euphemism for being fired.
Stansbury has coached at Mississippi State since the 1998-99 season but hasn’t advanced to the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA tournament.
We’d be shocked if Stansbury doesn’t “unretire” and continue his coaching career somewhere else.
