Everyone loves college basketball in March – unless American and Buffalo are playing in the CIT. Props to the D.C. Sports Bog for pointing out that the teams played in front of 256 fans at American’s Bender Arena on Wednesday night.
“When I say there is nobody at Bender Arena for the American vs. UB CIT game, I literally mean nobody,” this fan tweeted.
Check the photo below, courtesy of D.C. Sports Bog, in which it looks like that number might have even been an exaggeration.
We realize that a meaningless game between two mid-major teams shouldn’t attract a big crowd, especially on the eve of the NCAA tournament, but this showing furthers the argument that tournaments like the CIT and CBI offer next to nothing to the college hoops landscape – not even much revenue.
