Former UNLV and NFL quarterback Randall Cunningham is known as one of the most electric and athletic players in history. That’s why it’s odd to see “punter” next to his name on the College Football Hall of Fame ballot.
Yes, Cunningham did punt at UNLV, where he was an All-American for his success at the position in 1983 and 1984 – and it’s not the first time that he was listed like that on the ballot. But Cunningham also is the top passer in Rebels history and a four-time Pro Bowl QB at the next level, making us chuckle when we see it in print.
Check the photo below, courtesy of Kevin McGuire of Examiner.com on Twitter, which shows Cunningham among the likes of Steve Bartkowski and Eric Crouch – both of whom are listed at quarterback, by the way.
We would have run a lot of fake punts with Cunningham back deep to kick.
