WVU’s Irvin, Memphis’ Poe Impress in 40

The NFL combine is the annual event where 40-yard dash times and shuttle jumps separate the top college football prospects.

And two defensive lineman shot up draft boards on Monday for mind-boggling 40-yard dash times, as West Virginia’s Bruce Irvin ran a 4.50 official time and Memphis’ Dontari Poe ran a 4.87 unofficial time despite being nearly 350 pounds. To put Irvin’s time in perspective, Baylor’s speedy wide receiver Kendall Wright ran a 4.61 40.

Poe, who was already projected to be a first- or second-round pick, is currently the man of the hour. Check the video of him running the 40 as the NFL Network’s Mike Mayock almost blows a gasket watching the big man rumble.

Actually, the 4.50 on Bruce Irvin was the official time, unofficially a 4.43
