Former Michigan State All-American defensive back Al Brenner, who at one point went missing for eight years, died on Monday. He was 64.
The Canadian Press detailed his shocking story, in which he was reported missing by the Halton Regional Police in Burlington, Ontario, in April 1983 and did not contact his family until 1991.
Brenner played in the CFL for seven seasons after two campaigns with the New York Giants. But according to the Canadian Press, Brenner was profiled in 2010 on CBC’s “The Fifth Estate” – a show that featured missing Canadians – on which it showed him living in North Carolina.
It’s an amazing story, one with very little explanation, that got even sadder when Brenner passed away of unknown causes earlier this week. Al Brenner profile
