Mike Krzyzewski already has an all-time record with 903 wins, but he may have had more if he could have landed Michael Jordan, which goes without saying.
Yeah, we know the thought of Jordan in a Duke uniform is blasphemous to North Carolina fans. But it could have happened.
Check the below photo, courtesy of the Windy Citizen, of a recruiting letter sent from Coach K to Jordan in 1980, the first year that Krzyzewski was the head man in Durham.
Of course, the letter was conciliatory in nature since Jordan had not chosen Duke, but it’s cool to read nonetheless.
The final line says, “You are a fine young man and you should make an immediate impact on whatever you choose.”
Yeah, you can say Coach K got that one right.
