Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy is well known for his infamous “I’m a man! I’m 40!” rant in 2007 – so much so that he claims it has helped the Cowboys with recruiting.
“… Very seldom do I go into a home where there won’t be a parent or grandparent that brings it up in a subtle matter,” Gundy told Rivals.com in an interview posted Tuesday.
“They’ll say, ‘Coach, I know you may not want to talk about it, but I saw you on YouTube and that’s one of the reasons we are sending our son to your school.’ ”
We’re not sure if that means that the parents and grandparents respect Gundy for sticking up for his player – or if Gundy simply has become recognizable because of it.
Hey, whatever works. With the Cowboys now 4-0 and ranked No. 6 in the country, it’s hard to argue with the results.
If recruits enjoyed the “I’m a man!” rant as much as the rest of us, they’re gonna love Gundy’s dance moves that recently hit the internet.
