Paralyzed Eric LeGrand will lead Rutgers out of the tunnel for its game Saturday vs. West Virginia.
Doctors thought LeGrand would never walk or come off a ventilator again after he fractured two vertebrae while making a tackle on a kickoff return against Army on October 16, 2010.
Five weeks after being carted off the field at the New Meadowlands Stadium, LeGrand proved doctors wrong when he came off the ventilator. He then tweeted a photo of himself standing in rehab over the summer (below).
Tweeted LeGrand on Wednesday: “Can’t wait for Saturday, even with this forecast I am still pumped up.”
It seems like LeGrand – who also is an analyst on the Rutgers radio network – continues to make further progress. This will be an inspirational moment for the Scarlet Knights and another big step for LeGrand.
