Former Tennessee coach Bruce Pearl has gone from one of the most-recognizable faces in college sports to peddling upholstery.
As reported earlier, Pearl is now the vice president of marketing for Knoxville, TN, wholesale distributor H.T. Hackney. The company is now launching “H.Home,” a stationary and motion upholstery (i.e. recliners) resource, prompting a quote from the former coach in “Furniture Today.”
“We are excited to enter the marketplace at this time with a comprehensive product line and a wide range of services where H.Home can become a partner with our customers rather than a vendor,” Pearl was quoted as saying.
Pearl entertained two recruits at his mansion, a minor violation that ultimately cost the coach his job with the Vols when he lied about it to NCAA investigators. He was fired by the school after the 2010-11 season.
We have two questions: Does Pearl really come up with his own quotes? And how excited is he really for introducing a new line of stationary and motion upholstery?
We’re guessing that’s not quite as exciting as reaching the Elite Eight.
