Todd Graham: Kids Didn’t Like Pittsburgh

Arizona State coach Todd Graham seems to know no bounds when it comes to excuses for why he bolted Pitt for a job in Tempe.

After saying during his departure that he had family in the Valley of the Sun, Graham recently suggested to Craig Morgan of FOXSportsArizona.com that he had another reason for bailing out.

“All three of my kids went to Pittsburgh and said, ‘I don’t want to live here, dad.’ It wasn’t because of the people. There were great people there … ” Graham said in the interview.

“(ASU) was a deal that I did not plan. It was an opportunity of a lifetime that just came up for me. I’ve got a responsibility to my family to take care of them.”

We don’t begrudge anyone for leaving for a new job, no matter how much time he or she was at a previous post. But as if Graham wasn’t hated enough in the Steel City, now Pittsburgh residents have a whole new reason to despise Graham: Using his six kids as an excuse for his behavior.

And it still doesn’t explain why Graham broke up with the school via text.

It’s okay, he’ll be fired from ASU anyways.

Because he is a spineless fraud. It is like a CEO coming to a new company and implementing drastic changes while getting the support of all the employees, owners, and customers. After one year,(11 months), decides not to show up for work one day after sending an email saying he took a new position to do the same thing at another company. You only lose credibility one time in life, and once you lose it, it will always be with you. He will someday regret this decision and it will always be in the minds of those considering hiring him and will be a question that will be asked. Do you honor your commitment? Well, can you define commitment for me?

That’s all well and good Mike. And I normally agree with you. However, in this case, it must not be true. Arizona hired him! Good luck, they will need it.

Pittsburgh is a dump & Todd Graham & his kids are totally right. Pittsburgh is a bunch of over weight, crack heads, drunks. Graham is not the only person that has called Pittsburgh a dump. Graham did the right choose to move to Phoenix & to greener pastures at Arizona State like ESPN have reported then being stick at a dump of a city like Pittsburgh & staying at a small unimportant school like Pitt too. Sorry Pittsburgh people & Pitt fans but fix that bump of a city you guys call & stop smoking crack & also try to make your school a bit bigger & smarter to because you guys are known as a dump school to by media reports. This is not to make fun of you guys in Pittsburgh but to get you guys to striation up your lives alright.

I can understand someone wanting to take a new coaching position, but be honest and professional about it.
According to the coach, Graham’s kids had such an aversion to living in Pittsburgh that he just had to renege on his committment to his players for the remaining few weeks of their season and inform them (most professionally!) via text rather than face to face! He speaks to Fox Sports about the full committment he is receiving now, as opposed to the half committment he was receiving at Pitt and asks who wouldn’t want that.
I could ask him the same question. The hypocrite didn’t even give half committment to either his team or employer. Good luck ASU aadministration with this fine example of integrity and honesty.

To reply to Steve”s comments. You are very proficient at the fine art of generalization. I guess you know a whole lot of Pittsburgh people and places , or maybe its just the type of people and places you gravitate to.

LOL @ your comment. You sound like a “crack head drunk”! What “dump school” did you drop out of? Perhaps you should straighten (note the correct spelling) up your life before trolling the comment section.

Yeah, that must be why Pittsburgh has been ranked the U.S.’s most liveable city several times in the past 10 years. Definitely.
