Kuran Iverson, the cousin of former Georgetown and NBA superstar Allen Iverson, has narrowed his college choices to Connecticut and Kentucky, according to Zag’s Blog on Monday.
The No. 3 small forward for the class of 2013, according to Rivals.com, Iverson said that UK coach John Calipari already has made an impression on him.
“Coach Calipari’s a great guy,” Iverson told FiveStarBasketball.com. “He came to my school in the beginning of the school year. To me, it feels like he’s interested, so I’m kind of interested in Kentucky, too.”
Calipari will have to deal with UConn’s Jim Calhoun, who may have an inside track on Iverson thanks to proximity. Iverson plays for Northwest Catholic H.S. in West Hartford, CT.
The report said that Iverson has made a visit to the Huskies’ locker room and interacted with assistant coach Kevin Ollie and some current player.
While Allen Iverson was on the wrong side of this shot from UConn’s Ray Allen, only time will tell if the younger Iverson will follow his cousin into the Big East.
