The “Doctors of Dunk” didn’t have an easy road to the finals considering their journey began with back-to-back overtime wins. But their style of play and flair (they’re credited with popularizing the high five) made them one of the most memorable NCAA champions ever. Now, 30 years later, we track down each member from Louisville’s 1980 NCAA Championship team and find their current whereabouts.

Washington State’s Steve Broussard is leaving his alma mater to become the new wide receivers coach at Arizona State. Can you blame him? In his three seasons there, Wazzou was 8-29. Broussard played running back under Sun Devil coach Dennis Erickson while at Washington State and with the Seattle Seahawks. Broussard led the Pac-10 in receiving his sophomore year. Penny Hardaway Donates To Alma Mater, Hosts Local Basketball Showcase

After Memphis’ Anfernee “Penny” Hardaway ended his 14-year NBA career in 2008, he donated $1 million to Memphis for an athletic hall of fame on campus. Today he lives in Memphis and recently hosted the Penny Hardaway Basketball Classic, a showcase for the top Memphis high schools. As for his better half? Lil Penny has kept a low profile since his heyday but he currently lives in Orlando, according to his MySpace page.

LSU’s Retires Jersey of Legend Rudy Macklin

On Saturday LSU honored Rudy Macklin, one of the school’s most legendary basketball players, by retiring his jersey. His No. 40 jersey now hangs beside Pete Maravich’s No. 23, Shaquille O’Neal’s No. 33, and Bob Pettit’s No. 50. Not bad company. Macklin led the Tigers to the Final Four and was the SEC Player of the Year in 1981 (his senior year). Today he runs the Louisiana Governor’s Council on Physical Fitness in Sports. Wake Forest’s Billy Packer Gone From CBS, But Still Commenting On NCAA Tournament

Billy Packer, a member Wake Forest’s 1962 Final Four team, was the cantankerous commentator for every NCAA Tournament from 1975 to 2008. Away from the court he actually hired a psychic to find the weapon in O.J. Simpson’s murder case. Today he resides in Charlotte and works in real estate. FSU’s Dexter Jackson Continuing Professional Career With UFL’s Florida Tuskers

He might be the most unrecognizable Super Bowl MVP ever. In 2003, Florida State’s Dexter Jackson snatched two interceptions and MVP honors as the Bucs trounced the Raiders, 48-21. Since then, Jackson hasn’t made as big an impact in the NFL and last played in the league in 2009 with the Bengals. Today he’s playing with the United Football League’s Florida Tuskers.
